Valley Social Dance Studio - FAQ

Thank you for inquiring about dance lessons! We have compiled a list of the most often-asked questions; we're sure you will find it helpful!

What will I learn at Valley Social?

We teach the dances that a man and a woman do together at a social gathering. You can learn any of the dances that you would use at a wedding, company function and any other social situation you might encounter.

How will I learn?

Here at Valley Social, you will find it surprisingly easy to learn! Whether you have "two left feet" or are already pretty comfortable and just want to brush up your skills, we will take you from where you are to where want to be in three easy fun-filled ways:

1) PRIVATE LESSONS Since no two people are alike, private lessons are an important part of your learning process. The one-on-one instruction (or one teacher with one couple) allows us to focus on your individual needs and wishes in your dancing.

2) CLASS LESSONS Group instruction allows you to learn the basic steps in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. They are an important aid to your private instruction because they provide the repetition that results in ease of movement from one step to another; this makes your dancing feel natural.

3) PRACTICE SESSIONS (Studio Parties) Practice sessions are essential in getting the results you want from your dancing. We turn the lights down, turn the music up and we have a dance! We announce what dances can be done to each song and we will come around and help you get started if you need it. Practice sessions prepare you to dance in the "real world" by simulating conditions at a social function, but with help readily available.

By participating in all three types of instruction we at Valley Social know that you are receiving the finest instruction available and you will get the results you're looking for!

Can I fit this in my busy schedule?

We do our best to accommodate our students' varied schedules by teaching private lessons Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Group instruction is held 3-4 evenings each week as well as Wednesday afternoons. Practice sessions are held, for the most part, on Friday evenings (Thursday evenings in the summer). If, occasionally, you can't make the practice time, you can substitute it with a group class. Most students make one or two visits to the studio each week.

So, why should I learn to dance?

The reasons everyone should learn to dance are as many and varied as people are! Dancing is simply a means to an end. Whether it be for exercise or relaxation, self-confidence or an avenue of expression, dancing really is for everyone!

What will my investment be?

Of course, we have a tuition structure that we will be happy to discuss with you. Because each persons' needs and circumstances are different, how much you invest in your dancing is entirely up to you! We are very proud of the value per dollar we provide and we periodically have special discounts for new students. Give us a call and we'll be happy to provide details over the phone.
